Lecture 22: Proof of Shannon’s theorem

On Friday, we almost finished the proof of positive part of Shannon’s theorem. In particular, we proved that there exists an encoding and decoding pair for which the average decoding error is small. This material is from lecture 10 from fall 2007. Next lecture, we will finish the proof.

You guys have a good spring break. (But do not forget the March 22 Wikipedia deadline!)
