Lecture 9: Dual of Linear Codes

In today’s lecture, we formally defined the notion of a family of codes and the dual of a linear code. Then we looked at the Simplex code, which is the dual of the Hamming code and the related Hamming code. We then showed that the Hamming code has a relative distance of \frac{1}{2}.

Today’s material was from Lecture 7 from Fall 2007.
