Lecture 2: Definitions

In today’s lecture we went through a bunch of definitions with the goal of formalizing the big question for the course. We also looked at specific examples of the parity code and the repetition code. The relevant Fall 2007 notes are lecture 1 and lecture 2.

Next lecture we will wrap up the error correction properties of the specific parity and repetition codes and quickly go over how one can model noise.
